How much does it cost to produce video content?

Video production costs can vary based on complexity and quality. The value can range based on several factors involved, from a simple ENG-style (run and gun, man-on-the-street interview) to an elaborate, well-produced video production.

Some factors to consider in the budget may or may not be needed, such as:

Brainstorming/ideation, scriptwriting, location scouting, permitting, research, talent scouting, endorsement fees, voice-over selections, music track selections, or scoring music and sound effects, wardrobe, hair and makeup artists, props, storyboarding, type of cameras used, number of cameras used, camera operators, shooting, production assistants, lighting, Kraft services, runners or gophers, producer(s), director(s), audio boom operator, teleprompter, and other crew. Then, on top of all the pre-production and production, there is post-production, such as logging the footage, editing, color correcting, audio sweetening, motion graphics, or animation, and then there is rendering out the numerous file sizes to fit all the various aspect ratios for the various platforms for publishing the video(s), including all the social media channels that have different display and file size restrictions to make happen and then there is video marketing to get your videos seen and a lot more considerations that could go into your video production needs. Additionally, creating visual assets is a crucial step in video production to ensure consistency and engagement.

We’re video production experts, and will take the time to understand your company or organization’s needs and make them a reality!

How much does it cost to design a brochure?

Whether you are desiring a simple leave-behind to help with your sales efforts, need to raise awareness about a cause or event, or just need something evergreen to help tell the world about who you are and what you do, we have got you covered!

We will ask you questions to get you the right quote, such as the complexity, length, size, type, paperweight, printing quantity, quality and style of the brochure you are needing, graphics and other media needed, copywriting, photography for images and anything else we need to know to get started!

What is a marketing audit?

Our Marketing Audit process is a comprehensive review of all things past, present, and future.  Knowing what your brand essence statement is and making sure everyone in your organization understands and shares that statement is vital.  Ensuring you are targeting the right audience is vital.  Reviewing what’s worked in the past when it comes to networking, sponsorships, advertising, your website, and social media presence is all part of our audit. Then, creating goals, recommended tactics, divisions of duties, and a proposal for our assistance as an extension of your marketing department rounds out the audit process.

Why is a marketing audit important?

Having a third-party audit of your organization can uncover several things and will provide insights into how you can adjust your marketing to better reach your goals.  The analogy of “throwing it like spaghetti noodles against the wall and seeing what sticks” is far too often used. Planning, launching, monitoring, and adjusting along the way is the best way to make your marketing dollars and efforts count. As marketing experts, we’re here to act as consultants, implementers, partners, and collaborators.

What is the Marketing Plan System?

The Marketing Plan System is an online course that guides you through a self-audit, planning modules, and live, one-on-one calls with our marketing experts. It’s a “done with you” model of reviewing your past and current marketing, helping you identify your ideal audience(s), learning where they are in life, how to communicate most effectively with them, and measuring your efforts to maximize your marketing dollars. Once registered, you’ll have access to this course for life. You’ll also receive a lifetime membership to our Marketing Expedition community where you’ll find tons of useful information, resources, podcasts, webinars, training videos, and more.

What is the culture like at Peppershock?

We like to think of ourselves as fun-loving, hard-working people who know marketing, design, video production, copywriting, and taking care of clients. Everything in the office is orange.  Branding, you know, it’s important! We have fun lunches (FUNCH) together, we camp together, we go bowling and golfing together. Our culture has shifted to much more of a remote/hybrid one, and so we work hard to stay connected, gather in person as often as we can, and stay connected. Our holistic approach to branding, focusing on both tangible elements and emotional connections with customers, helps us create a truly successful brand. We’re also a team of very involved people. We’re community supporters. We serve on various boards and committees, like; the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, Idaho Ducks Unlimited, Snake River Stampede Board, and more.

What does "agency of record" mean?

When an advertising agency signs on with a client as their “agency of record,” it means that the ad agency has been permitted to purchase advertising on behalf of their client. A letter stating this agreement is typically drafted and signed by both parties and provided to advertising partners and vendors (ie. newspaper, TV, radio, outdoor, etc.)

How much should I spend on marketing?

This is the most asked and most variable question we get. Our answer is typically, “It depends.” Marketing budgets depend on revenue goals, the type of product or service your organization sells, and whether it’s an impulse buy with very little marketing effort needed or a larger ticket item that takes some convincing coaxing, and educating.

Paid ads, particularly Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising, play a crucial role in digital marketing strategies. They allow marketers to target specific audiences across various platforms, enhancing brand awareness and effectively reaching potential customers.

How much should I allocate to my marketing budget?

We have some formulas that will help create a marketing budget.  When we perform a Marketing Audit for our clients, we will also include factoring the Customer Acquisition Cost and the Lifetime Value of a customer.  Knowing these two numbers, along with your revenue goals will help determine an ideal marketing budget.

What is a "customer acquisition cost" or CAC?

Customer Acquisition Cost, or CAC is a calculation of how much it typically costs to acquire one new customer. Ideally, the goal is to lower the cost that it takes to acquire each new customer, and there are a variety of tactics and strategies that we can implement to lower this number, and improve your ROMI, or Return on Marketing Investment!

How do I get a return on my marketing investment (ROMI)?

To get a return on your marketing investment (ROMI):

  1. Set clear goals – Know what success looks like.
  2. Target the right audience – Focus on high-potential customers.
  3. Optimize campaigns – Test, adjust, and refine strategies.
  4. Track metrics – Measure ROI using tools like Google Analytics.
  5. Focus on retention – Keep existing customers engaged for long-term value.

Consistency and smart investments drive strong ROMI.

What is the “Lifetime Value” of a customer or LTV?

Lifetime Value or “LTV” is the amount of money an average customer will spend with you over the lifetime of being a customer.  Knowing this figure allows you to determine how many new customers you need to acquire over a certain period to reach your revenue goals.

How do I measure branding efforts?

Measuring branding efforts involves tracking metrics that reflect your brand’s visibility, perception, and impact. Key areas to focus on include:

  1. Brand Awareness – Use tools to measure website traffic, social mentions, and search volume for your brand.
  2. Customer Perception – Gather feedback through surveys, reviews, and social media sentiment analysis.
  3. Engagement – Track likes, shares, comments, and interaction rates on branded content.
  4. Sales Impact – Monitor conversions, customer loyalty, and repeat business linked to your branding campaigns.
  5. Brand Recall – Conduct market research to see how well your brand is remembered by customers.

These insights help you refine your strategies and measure ROI.

What are some KPI examples? (Key Performance Indicators or as Rhea likes to call them, Kept Promise Indicators).

Here are some key performance indicator (KPI) examples:

  1. Marketing KPIs – Website traffic, conversion rates, social media engagement, email open rates.
  2. Sales KPIs – Revenue growth, customer acquisition cost (CAC), average order value (AOV).
  3. Customer KPIs – Net promoter score (NPS), customer satisfaction (CSAT), retention rate.
  4. Operational KPIs – Productivity rates, project completion time, error rates.
  5. Financial KPIs – Profit margins, ROI, operating costs.

These help track progress and assess success across business areas.

How can I accelerate my word-of-mouth advertising?

You want people to talk about your business (especially when it’s good!). Positive reviews, referrals, recommendations, social media sharing, organic conversations, water-cooler talk—it’s just a proven fact that people buy from people they know, like, and trust, and if other people know, like, and trust you, they are more likely to, too!

Boost your brand, bottom line, and word-of-mouth advertising by engaging with your current customers, incentivizing them to talk and share about you, and rewarding them when they do! Consistent social media posts help maintain a uniform brand voice, making your communication engaging and recognizable, effectively connecting with users.

What are OTT and CTV, and how do they work?

OTT (Over-the-Top) and CTV (Connected TV) are terms used in the digital streaming and advertising world, and they represent different parts of the same ecosystem: delivering video content over the internet. Here’s what they mean and how they work:

OTT (Over-the-Top):

  • Let’s say you want to watch a news story on your favorite website, but an ad pops on before you get to the news story.  That’s OTT.  The video ad just played “over the top” of the content you were wanting to reach.
  • It works through apps or websites that stream content on-demand or live, accessible on various devices like smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles, or laptops.

CTV (Connected TV):

  • CTV refers to the delivery of video content directly to viewers via the Internet, bypassing traditional cable or satellite providers.
  • Examples of CTV platforms include Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and YouTube.
  • CTV specifically refers to televisions connected to the internet, either through a smart TV or via devices like Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, or gaming consoles.
  • CTV serves as a medium for accessing OTT content on a larger screen, enhancing the viewing experience.

How They Work Together:

  1. Content Delivery: OTT services host video content on their platforms. Users access this content through internet-connected devices, including CTVs.
  2. Ad Targeting: OTT and CTV provide advertisers with data-driven targeting options. Ads are shown based on user behavior, preferences, and demographics, ensuring highly relevant messages.
  3. Streaming Experience: Viewers can enjoy seamless, on-demand content without needing traditional TV subscriptions.

Why It Matters for Businesses:

  • OTT and CTV open doors to personalized advertising, reaching audiences where they spend most of their time.
  • They allow brands to connect with viewers in a non-intrusive and engaging way, making them essential tools in modern marketing strategies.

What is Digital Advertising?

Digital advertising is the art of promoting products, services, or brands through various digital channels. This includes search engines, social media platforms, email, and websites. The primary goal is to create and display digital ads that resonate with a specific target audience, driving traffic, sales, or other desired actions. Digital advertising encompasses a range of strategies, such as search engine optimization (SEO), pay-per-click (PPC) advertising, social media marketing, email marketing, and content marketing. By leveraging these methods, businesses can effectively reach their target audience and achieve their marketing objectives.

What are Digital Marketing Channels?

Digital marketing channels are the diverse platforms and tools used to promote products, services, or brands through digital means. These channels include:

  • Search Engines: Platforms like Google, Bing, and Yahoo help businesses reach users actively searching for specific information.
  • Social Media Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn are powerful tools for engaging with audiences and promoting content.
  • Email Marketing: Sending targeted messages to customers or potential customers via email to nurture relationships and drive conversions.
  • Content Marketing: Creating and sharing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience.
  • Online Advertising: Utilizing display ads, PPC ads, and social media ads to reach a broader audience.
  • Mobile Marketing: Engaging customers through mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, to deliver timely and relevant messages.
  • Video Marketing: Using video content to promote products or services, capturing the audience’s attention with visual storytelling.
  • Affiliate Marketing: Partnering with other businesses to promote products or services, expanding reach through collaboration.
  • Influencer Marketing: Collaborating with influencers to promote products or services to their followers, leveraging their credibility and reach.

By utilizing these digital marketing channels, businesses can effectively connect with their target market and enhance their brand recognition.

What is SEO in Digital Marketing?

SEO, or search engine optimization, is the process of enhancing a website’s visibility and ranking on search engine results pages (SERPs). The primary objective of SEO is to increase the quality and quantity of website traffic by achieving higher rankings for specific keywords or phrases. This involves understanding how search engines operate, what users search for, and the keywords they use. SEO also requires optimizing a website’s content, structure, and coding to make it more search engine-friendly and improve the user experience. By implementing effective SEO strategies, businesses can boost their online visibility, attract more visitors to their websites, and ultimately increase their sales and revenue.
