CeraVe Satellite Media Tour
KEF Media (located in Smyrna, Georgia) reached out to Peppershock regarding the possibility of renting our Peppershock Studio, equipment, and crew for a Satellite Media Tour for their client, CeraVe. The purpose of the tour was to promote World Skin Health Day.
The tour was scheduled for 4 hours, booked from 6 am to 10 am MST. Peppershock was to provide the studio, crew, camera, audio, lights, switcher, IFB, hair/makeup, and catering services.
CeraVe brought in local Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr. Dustin Portela to deliver the message of World Skin Health Day to 23 different news station affiliates around the country for this satellite tour.
Our Studio
Our first step was a preliminary connectivity test through Zoom with KEF Media’s control room to make sure our studio had a strong internet connection. The signal strength was solid and we were able to move forward.
The day before the satellite tour we met with KEF’s producer, Adriana Wells, who flew in earlier that day. We dressed the set, tested the lighting and audio, and ran a final tech test.
On the day of the satellite tour, we had a 4:30 AM call time, with a connection test/run-through at 5:30 AM and the first station interview at 6:00 AM. The crew consisted of 1 camera operator and an audio tech, a Zoom tech monitoring the connection, a make-up artist, and a floor director/producer. For gear, Peppershock provided 1 locked-down HD camera, audio, studio lights, switcher, IFB device, laptop, hardwired internet, and a monitor for the talent.
Studio 10 Interview
Dr. Portela arrived at 5:30 AM for the final tech run and received make-up and last looks. At 6 AM we started with our first interview with WADK-AM, in Providence, Rhode Island, and continued until our final interview with Waters After Hours, a nationally syndicated radio show. Throughout the tour, Dr. Portela spoke with 23 different media outlets around the country, promoting World Skin Health Day and the importance of taking care of your skin and how dermatologists from around the country were providing free skin checks, CeraVe products, and services at various clinics and locations in rural areas.
Action News 5 Interview
The whole tour was successful. We had no technical or connectivity issues throughout the day and Dr. Portela was able to deliver his message clearly and without issue.
This was a fun project for us because some of us at Peppershock have a TV news background, and this felt like a throwback to those times. We also love showcasing our Peppershock Studio whenever we get the chance.
