Tips to Developing Effective Online Video Messages, Rich Media
User generated videos can be fun
and entertaining, however for business clients the video should be concise, compelling and optimized for web delivery, in other words .......... professionally produced. Taking advantage of sight and sound on your website can impact your visitors’ experience tremendously. You must make certain the video you are presenting them with is going to capture their attention and keep them from clicking away or worse, closing your website altogether.

Keep your message consistent.
Does your marketing message speak in unison? Or, is your marketing message made up of sporadic hit-or-miss post cards and ads that say different things each time? Your answer reveals a great deal about your future success.
One way to ensure that your message is consistent is to do a lot of experimenting and market research. Testing, measurement, and evaluation are key to understanding what you are trying to say and how you should say it.
It is chilly outside but business is hot at Peppershock. We are stirring things up with our new account manager Luke Cavener. He spent the last three years as Premiere Retail's Field Manager. Luke is a University of Nevada Las Vegas graduate, experienced business developer, account manager and media analyst. We are thrilled to have Luke on our team.
Peppershock also welcomes Zach Chastaine as our new intern. Zach is currently a senior at Meridian Tech studying in the media arts pathway. In fall 2008 Zach will attend college at the San Francisco Academy of Art, pursuing a BFA in Motion Pictures & Television.
We are actively seeking the right person to fill our Producer position. If you or someone you know is looking for an awesome opportunity, please let us know!

Small marketers find huge opportunity in on-line video
Online video is very attractive to small businesses, if they are talented in creating unique video content. According to research company eMarketer, online video advertising spending will rise from $775 million this year to $2.9 billion in 2010. According to Steve Safran, senior VP, AR&D "you don't need to be a big information content producer anymore to get your information out there." Online video is a wonderful place for the small business to shine. [click here to read more]

“Who Owns the Image, Client or Creator?” copyright laws examined…
We live in a world where copying artwork, photography, music and more are just a mouse click away. Accessibility is abundant. However, having access to original artwork does not give us the right to use them any way we please.
Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U. S. Code) to the authors of “original works of authorship,” including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works.
This protection is available to both published and unpublished works. Section 106 of the 1976 Copyright Act lists out the details of what the owner of the copyright has the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do.
Typically the person or entity originating the creative works retains the copyright unless the client wants to purchase a “buy out” of the copyrights of a protected work and then the original creator can assign copyrights to the client. Then the copyright owner has the exclusive right to do and authorize others to do what is listed in Section 106.
By knowing more about copyright laws, you can avoid devastating costs in the future. Read More Here.______________

YOUR MARKETING GEM OF THE MONTH:
In a recent publication of B to B Magazine, Matt Solomon lists Seven Fatal Errors of Video Production. This list can also be referred to as “what not to do when making a video.” You can read the full version of the article here, but here are the highlights:
Fatal Error No. 1: Trying to say everything.
Fatal Error No. 2: Focusing on the message after the video is shot.
Fatal Error No. 3: Creating a video for select execs.
Fatal Error No. 4: Employing creativity by committee.
Fatal Error No. 5: Not planning for more than one use.
Fatal Error No. 6: Focusing on awards, not the message.
Fatal Error No. 7: Taking the cheapest way out.

Check out Peppershock’s Updated Website, Logo & Demo Reel!
Every once in a while, we all look into the mirror and realize that we’ve put on a few pounds, our clothes are out of style, and our haircut hasn’t changed since high school. That’s when it’s time for a makeover! Sticking with the core elements, we took our brand and freshened it up a little. It’s now more dynamic, useable, and stylish…all qualities important in a good brand.
In case you were wondering, and we often get asked this question… where did the name “Peppershock” come from? Well, Peppershock is a derivative of Rhea’s maiden name, “Peppersack” (Rhea is our President / CEO) and with a name like Peppersack, no one could forget, so we figured no one would forget Peppershock… that and the domain name www.peppershock.com was available! So check out our new “look & feel,” see what we’ve been up to on our website, and check out our blog & post comments – let us know what you think!
Congratulations to Drew!
Drew won an Accomplished Under Forty Award from the Idaho Business Review! We are very proud of Drew’s recognition as one of the Treasure Valley’s best. You can read about it online here.

Your Advertising Gem of the Month:

Do you remember the age-old saying: “honesty is the best policy?” Well, it’s true…especially in business. Take this example above, who wouldn’t want to buy a watch from this vendor, if not just to say you did? Take Fairly Reliable Bob’s as another example, their name alone translates honesty in a humorous way.
When you are honest with your customers and associates, you will come out on top every time. Let your contacts know about your commitment to honesty and integrity and they will continue to do business with you. We’ve found that always to be true here at Peppershock.
